Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber was at the tail end of a marathon world tour when he suddenly announced that he was quitting the tour and canceling the final fourteen shows.
Given all the problems that have notoriously plagued famous singers and musicians while on tour, people were speculating wildly about what the reason might be for Bieber to abruptly pull out of his tour. According to Australia’s The Today Show, the reason has nothing to with relationship problems or struggles with drugs or alcohol.
Bieber’s management team put out a statement about the show cancellations, saying that they were due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The Today Show gave more detail about what these circumstances were, tweeting, “WORLD EXCLUSIVE: An inside source revealed @JustinBieber cancelled his world tour to focus on his faith and start his own church. #9Today”
A source at Sydney, Australia’s Hillsong Church Conference reportedly made the claim. Said Australian television host Richard Wilkins, “I am led to believe that the real reason he has come off the road is because he wants to reconnect with his faith and he may be even planning to start his own church.”
He added about Justin, “We know that he was in the country a few weeks ago having meetings and attending the big Hillsong convention that they had here. [He’s] very close to a lot of the Hillsong people. Whether he’s looking at teaming up with them in something of a more permanent situation or doing some sort of religious activity on his own – starting his own church – we’re not quite sure, but that’s the word from an inside source.” Carl Lentz, the pastor of Hillsong Church, have a close rapport. Tweeted Bieber about one of Carl’s sermons in 2013, “Love to my guy @carllentzNYC for the amazing sermon at church this morning. Love you man. I broke down today. Thank u :)” Do you support Bieber’s church-building aspirations, or do you think he is insincere?
